Bronze Age Reenactment
In recent years there has been a surge in interest in archaeology: this in turn has increased the number of television programmes, programme makers have struggled to find people that can reconstruct some aspects of the past with any authenticity, especially domestic and metal working scenes.Neil Burridge and Time Travellers have a wide experience of working with many television production companies and understand the needs of directors.
We can advise you on all aspects of the period you wish to film, from clothing and jewellery to food preparation, and can provide all the necessary accessories to give your programme the finishing touches.
We have first hand knowledge of the many different reconstructed round houses across Britain and the different sites which would be suited to the period you are filming.
NEIL BURRIDGE
Bronze age metalworker and Celtic craftsman, I would like to think that my cameos are some of the finest seen on television, with a mix of technical accuracy and authentic appearance.Bronze casting
Bronze casting using ancient methods can create some of the most beautiful images for any television programme; bright orange metal born from fire flowing into a mould is visually stunning and ending with a glinting bronze dagger ends the scene perfectly.
Making an object from start to finish can be a slow process and costly for a director. With most programmes only showing around twelve seconds, I can provide all the stages of production of any item ready for the camera from hot metal to glinting bronze replica.
Copper casting
I can recreate all aspects of bronze age metal working, from early bronze age copper casting to sword casting in the late bronze age, and the smelting of copper and tin ores.Gold working
Gold working is a particular interest of mine and I have reconstructed Bronze Age gold working on a number of programmes. Having my own gold means I can provide you with the scenes without the expense of buying the gold.Celtic craftsman
From bronze mirrors, silver neck torques to Celtic coins in silver and gold, I have a lot of experience of casting, twisting and forging silver in the making of Iron Age neck torques.
Technical problems or something unusual
Sometimes I get approached to make some unusual things, like different coloured flames to making liquid metal run across rock. It is possible to create the illusions of something being made without the great expense of making it authentically.
I am particularly adept at finding answers to difficult problems: my knowledge of materials and processes, especially fire, can get you the shots you need without having to spend a fortune.
From early 2004 I will be able to offer the use of my own round house here in
Cornwall, which will be one of the most authentic Bronze Age round houses for filming in.For more information on my work see my main Website bronze-age-craft.com
